Yoga for Fighters: Battle Bandera Collab
We are here to empower fighters (as survivors are fighers, too). Battle Bandera, a Puerto Rican Cultural Center Violence Prevention Initiative), has partnered with Healing in Movement to empower 5-8 youth fighters from the West Side (ages 18 - 23) who learn about positive affirmations, beliefs, and yoga movements to support their fighting and living journeys. We explore Surya A, B, and C yoga sequences to train West Side community members with tools of healing and will memorize to showcase this to the neighborhood.

Empower our collaborative programming with Battle Bandera and Healing in Movement by attending our Saturday morning at 9 am Community Yoga (Sliding Scale). Testimonials: “I matter. My existence is so crucial to the world. I take pride in loving myself. I come to the library quite often with my children and I wanted to go to yoga so bad. I feel so rested and relieved. I feel like I honored my body and took it another level with meditating and stretching. I am so excited. I grew up on the west side of Chicago and came back 6 years ago. Where I grew up it was a fast life. Yoga is a way to slow down and take it easy. Yoga teaches me to slow down and smell the roses and love myself. It is so significant to our existence. It is able to slow down and appreciate yourself.” (Kearra from the West Side)
